Opening the audience to the session, Dr. Jitendra Das, Director, FORE School of Management, took the reference of several noted Indian start-ups and highlighted their entrepreneurial journey while emphasising the importance of revenue generation in tandem with a brilliant idea. He said, “A brilliant idea is paramount to entrepreneurship, and successful start-ups always have brilliant ideas. Your idea might be great, but without an understanding of the revenue that’s coming in today or tomorrow, you’ll fail. Because ultimately, it’s the revenue that sustains you. So, therefore, one must be extremely clear about the revenue stream.”

The panel discussion focused on the gaps and learnings in the careers of the knowledgeable and successful group of panellists who were present at the event. Stressing the importance of perseverance, the panellists threw light on the factors that drove them to grow and succeed in their respective fields.

Taking a slice of life reference, Dr. Vaibhav Kapoor, Founder of PristynCare, said, “A surgery that was happening in Gurgaon for lakhs of rupees could be done in Agra for just Rs 40,000. That’s where we found our purpose. If you’re passionate about an idea, nobody can stop you.”

Echoing similar thoughts, Dr. Jitendra Das, Director of FORE School of Management, said, “Passion is assessed by the priorities you have in life; therefore, it is important to have a good understanding of your Passion. It is imperative that one has Passion; this Passion can be translated into an enterprise and revenue stream.”

Further, Mr. Teja Gudluru, Founder and CEO of UDo, added, “To be a Unicorn is an evolutionary aspiration. What is important is to listen to your target consumer base, be clear about your value proposition and focus on a solid MVP or Minimum Viable Product.”

There is an estimated 90% failure rate for start-ups these days. Most start-ups fail when they place too much emphasis on the idea rather than on revenue generation. Hence, the session concluded with the rich insights and experience of the prominent panellists. Focussing on the opportunities in the start-up ecosystem and India being a land of innovators, the overall session highlighted regaining the lost capabilities by focusing on essential business parameters, revenue models, customer satisfaction, and logistics.
