Global Innovation Research Centre to be set up in Amdavad, Gujarat UK HQ Innovation DB, & Social entrepreneur Jitu Lal will sign MOU soon

Ahmedabad, September 26: The industrious state of Gujarat will add another feather to its cap – a unique and first-of-its-kind Innovation Research Centre will be coming up in the city of Amdavad, thanks to the MOU which will be signed soon between the UK-headquartered Innovation DB, and well-known Gujarati social entrepreneur and activist, Jitendra “Jitu” Lal. Innovation DB offers an intelligence platform for the identification of emerging technologies and innovative ideas from all across the world.

Speaking to the media here, Mr Kiran Rana Khunti, CEO of Innovation DB India, said: “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Mr Jitu Lal to set up the first Innovation Research Centre of its kind in India, right here in Amdavad. This centre, when it’s operational, will help Startups, MSMEs, SMEs, Corporates and the plethora of government departments to innovate”.

“Open innovation as an idea is something whose time has finally come, and it’s both an economic compulsion and resource-based need for all kinds of organizations. Post the pandemic, which has stuck a body blow to established supply chain systems, companies of all kinds, sizes, and types have been pushed to innovate in every facet of their operation, be it material sourcing, goods movement, cost optimization of processes and procurement, and the final product distribution. This new Innovation Research Centre will be a hotbed of ideas to address the challenges faced by organizations’ R&D in the changed world reality”, Mr Rana added.

“The new ecosystem supported by the Innovation Research Centre will allow companies and institutions to start R&D projects or take them to the next level. Innovation DB’s platform will give manufacturers, R&D departments, venture capitalists, and private equity funds an invaluable tool with which to easily find relevant examples of new emerging technologies and opportunities for partnerships in all areas of science globally. The all-important, central aim in establishing this Research Centre is to help “Make in India” come true in the state of Gujarat and neighbouring regions,” said Mr Jitendra Lal, while speaking to the media.

Kiran Rana is closely connected to the UK and Indian government agencies that help bridge the gaps in innovation. He is also a principal facilitator for a trade mission later this year (Oct), which will complement the Defence Exhibition (Defexpo), which will take place in Gujarat.

Both Mr Kiran Rana and Jitu Lal believe that this is the best way to repay the land of their birth, Gujarat, a state which has grown by leaps and bounds thanks to its enterprising and hardworking people. “What better way to show our gratitude to our land than to take this small step in ushering in far-reaching innovation through this new Research Centre?”
